Top 10 Solar Companies
We help people find a reputable solar installer, fast and easily, by listing the top 10 companies in your area.
As any solar professional (and many unlucky consumers) will tell you, the solar market is littered with dodgy operators. And navigating the bad operators is difficult for most people, as they appear great on the surface, with heaps of 5 Star Google Reviews, a friendly salesperson and most often, a price that is too good to be true.
Even websites that promote "Best Solar Installers" such as SolarQuotes, Hipages or Oneflare, don't actually do any research or list the best installers. Instead, they focus on listing as many companies as possible, and charging those companies a small fortune to compete against one another for your business (e.g. get three quotes in your area). The solar companies who compete against each other, are often far from the best as they have to lower their prices to be competitive in the race to the bottom, and the three that will offer you a quote are just the three that respond to the ad the fastest.
Now, I know what you're thinking... How the hell are you suppose to know who the top solar installers are? You couldn't have gotten a solar system installed from every company!
And you'd be right. However, after working in the solar industry for a long time, I know who many of the good companies are, worked with many of them, know how to spot them, and also which ones to avoid.
So, how do we spot a good solar company? Below is what we have taken into account when compiling our list.
Reputable Solar Companies - How we pick them
Industry Professionals
After being in the industry for 15+ years, I've worked with and for quite a few solar companies (full-time and sub-contracting basis), and many different installers. And yes, we gossip like crazy about the industry. We know which companies take pride in their work, who actually gives after sales care, and who doesn't.
Many reputable installers, get phone calls weekly from customers who have had a bad experience with a certain company and need someone to fix, or finish, what they couldn't (or what they just ignore).
Online Reviews
Google & Facebook reviews are usually a good indicator of a companies product, but unfortunately many are not legit. Some of the dodgy operators force their customers to give them 5 star reviews, offering them discounts or prizes, and even pay fake reviewers. They end up getting 1000's of 5 star reviews, that topples their end rating, and the real 1 star reviews get missed.
Fortunately, it is easy enough to spot the real reviews from the fake ones, but it can be very time consuming. So, we have done the hard work for you, and only listed companies with real reviews.
Social Media
While all solar companies are only going to highlight their best installs on the socials - as a solar installer, you tend to look very closely at each job and admire when the installer has gone above and beyond to make the installation look good. This includes knowing the challenges of certain jobs (e.g. double storey houses, batteries), and seeing if the installer went the more difficult but aesthetically pleasing option, or took the easy way out.
